Beyond reference and serial verification, six characteristics distinguish authentic 5711 examples from convincing counterfeits. The Nautilus catalogue's contemporary cultural standing — anchored in the public record by Jay-Z's Patek collection through the Watch the Throne era and extended in the present generation by Ed Sheeran's Nautilus and the broader Patek Patrol catalogue — is the reason every 5711 sale now carries the verification scrutiny that follows.
Dial sunburst orientation. Authentic 5711 dials have a horizontal embossed pattern with a specific sunburst angle — counterfeits frequently show inconsistencies under raked light.
Bracelet clasp generation. The 5711 clasp evolved across production years; matching the clasp to the case serial is a common point of failure on tampered examples.
Hands lume tone. Period-correct lume has a specific colour and aging profile under UV. Replacement hands are the most common service intervention to flag.
Case geometry at the lugs. The Nautilus's signature satin-and-polish finishing meets at a specific bevel angle. Polish that has rounded this transition is a primary value-affecting flaw.
Movement signature. Calibre 26-330 S C bridges, engravings, and Geneva Seal placement are all verifiable against reference specifications.
Archive extract. Patek Philippe's archive extracts can be requested by serial; absence of an extract on a recent example is itself a flag.

No. The 5711/1A-014 was the final blue-dial steel Nautilus before discontinuation in 2021. Patek Philippe replaced the line with the 5811 in white gold, beginning 2022. Steel Nautilus production has not resumed and is not expected to. The 5711 is now a discontinued reference, with all secondary-market transactions taking place outside the authorised dealer network.
Authentication of a 5711 requires verification across at least six dimensions: dial sunburst pattern under raked light, hands lume tone under UV, bracelet clasp generation matched to case serial, case geometry at the lug bevel, movement calibre signature and Geneva Seal placement, and Patek Philippe archive extract. Independent expert review is recommended for any private-market transaction. Maison Montres runs all six checks and seven additional protocol points before issuing an authentication certificate.
As of 2026, secondary market values for the 5711/1A-014 in full set with archive extract typically fall between €110,000 and €145,000, depending on condition grade, polish status, and completeness of the set. The 5711/1A-018 (Tiffany-stamped dial) commands materially higher figures and trades less frequently. The original Patek Philippe international guarantee covers two years from the original retail purchase. Watches purchased on the secondary market beyond this period are no longer covered by the manufacturer warranty, though Patek Philippe will service any reference at any age — service is paid by the owner. All three are blue-dial steel Nautilus references differing in production year and small detail. The 5711/1A-001 was the original production from 2006. The 5711/1A-010 introduced minor refinements including date-wheel font. The 5711/1A-014 was the final production from 2019 to 2021. Differences are subtle and matter primarily for collectability and matching to archive extract — all three share calibre 26-330 S C and the same 40mm case dimensions.
Patek Philippe does not publish waiting times, and authorised dealer allocation for the 5811 is effectively closed to non-established clients. The replacement of the 5711 with the white-gold 5811 has not eased the situation. Most collectors who acquire a current Nautilus reference today do so on the secondary market through houses like Maison Montres.
