A short glossary

Buyer's premium — the fee an auction buyer pays on top of the hammer price (27–28% at the lower tier in 2026). It comes out of what a buyer will bid, so a seller carries it indirectly.

Escrow — funds held by a regulated third party and released only on the buyer's inspection, so neither side transacts on trust.

Extract from the Archives — a Patek Philippe document confirming a specific watch's date and original specification.

Full set — a watch with its original box, papers and accessories; it sells for more than the sum of its parts.

Superfake — a counterfeit good enough to pass a surface glance, defeating the old visual tells.
