The 5402 Jumbo went through two production series with subtle but identifying differences. Modern Jumbo references (15202, 16202) have their own characteristics. Authentication on each is different. The Royal Oak's contemporary canon — including John Mayer's Royal Oak references across the 4100 and the 5402 A-series, and LeBron James's Royal Oak collection with its documented personalised commissions — is the Genta drawing extended through fifty years of continuous production.
A-series Jumbo (5402, 1972–1977). Tapisserie pattern depth and orientation, "AP" signature font, hands type and lume, case bevel sharpness — all need to be verified against documented production characteristics. Original A-series tapisserie has a finer grid than later production. Independent specialist review is mandatory.
B-series Jumbo (5402, 1977 onwards). Tapisserie reverted to the larger grid, signature font changed. Mid-production examples can have transitional characteristics that require specialist expertise to authenticate.
Modern Jumbo (15202ST, 16202ST). Dial generations, calibre verification (2121 for 15202, 7121 for 16202), bracelet end-link fit, and clasp generation are all reference-specific.

No. The 15202ST was discontinued in 2022 with the introduction of the 16202ST, which uses the new in-house calibre 7121 in place of the legacy 2121. The 15202 is now a discontinued reference and trades only on the secondary market.
Both are reference 5402 Jumbo Royal Oaks but differ by production period. A-series watches were produced 1972 to approximately 1977 and feature a finer tapisserie pattern and a distinctive "AP" signature font. B-series followed and reverted to the larger tapisserie grid still used today. Authentication of each requires reference-specific expertise — the differences are subtle and frequently mishandled by less specialised dealers.
Royal Oak authentication is reference-specific. Across all references, key checks include: tapisserie dial pattern depth and orientation, hands type and lume tone, case geometry at the bevel, signature font, hexagonal nut placement on the bezel, bracelet clasp generation, and movement calibre verification. As of 2026, secondary market values for the 15202ST in full set with papers typically fall between €70,000 and €95,000, depending on dial colour, condition grade, and completeness. The 26521PT is a platinum-cased openworked Royal Oak with a tourbillon at six o'clock and baguette-cut sapphire indices. It is a highly limited reference, produced only in small numbers, and is exclusively traded through the secondary market. Authentication requires two-tier review with specialist verification of the gem-setting, the tourbillon assembly, and the platinum case hallmarks.
